Our mission is to improve the survival of brain tumor patients.
We focus on adult brain tumor patients and women with breast-to-brain metastasis. Our goals include (i) the discovery and testing of new improved drugs that can penetrate the blood-brain barrier, (ii) target and block selected cellular pathways critical for tumor cell survival, and (iii) identify and exploit mechanisms of treatment resistance. Our collaborations with clinical experts create a vibrant translational collaborative research environment with opportunities in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate training in brain tumor biology. Our joint research labs are at the forefront of research on Relaxin Factors in cancer. We recently highlighted an exciting new role of the DNA binding and chromatin remodeling protein HMGA2 (High Mobility Group A2) in PARP1 resistance in breast cancer. We collaborate with leading experts to learn about the intricate molecular details of this interaction and effects of HMGA2 targeting for tumor survival. Our research program is made possible by the dedication of our clinical colleagues and their staff and the enthusiasm of past and present members of our research team.
